Apartment Warming.

DIY: Potting "Wandering Jew" House Plants.

My best friend Erin is moving to Brockport NY
in TWO weeks from today!
:)
I made sure I put plenty of thought into
a lovely little apartment warming gift for her
and Jeff.

My Idea.

Like a two months ago
I snipped a few small clipping of my GIANT Wandering Jew plant.
So I thought...

...Why not let them grow and I will pot them into
a pretty depression glass bowl!

Wandering Jews live up to there name...
they wander and grow very FAST!!!!!!!!!!
It's actually insane how much the small clipping grew
in just a few months!

So, if you ever want to do this quick
make-your-own house warming gift...
you need a few months to let the snippings  grow.
Step ONE.
Planning ahead.
Start by cutting off some extra long clippings
from your already potted "Wandering Jew".

Snip Snip

Find your self a cute glass
or vase to stick the clippings in.
And fill it to the top with water.
Then stick in your clippings...
water when needed...
wait for roots.
(takes about a month or longer)
When ready to plant
proceed to step TWO!

These plants grow faster when placed by a window.

Step TWO.
Things you will need for planting.

Scissors.
Wandering Jew Clippings (already with ROOTS).
Pretty pot or what ever you want!
In this case Erin's favorite pattern and color
depression glass bowl:)
Soil.

Step THREE.
Planting.

Since I usually plant potted plants on
my drive way I use a tarp to lay
down to catch any loose soil.
Makes for easy clean up!
I always use gardening gloves too:)

Pour soil half way into bowl (pot).

Then separate the roots,
they tend to grown tangled.
BE GENTLE!
Then start poking holes into the soil
where the plants roots are going to go.

And BOOM
there you have it!

And by the time Erin and Jeff get their new
plant, it's vines will be wandering upward toward the light:)
I put an aloe plant about a month ago in a old
yellow Pyrex baking dish for my girl
Brianna Forte!
She loved it!
I actually bought the plant at
the market!
So there you go...
whether your growing plants or buying them,
this is a great and simple gift for any one!
Who doesn't love a plant!?

Until next time:)
